The BP6FS6605 Six Segment PCI Express Backplane

The BP6FS6605 six segment PCI Express backplane is designed to support low-profile single or dual-processor single board computers (SBC) such as the SLT, SLI or TML.  Each SBC segment supports a x16 PCI Express mechanical slot and three of the segments also have a x8 PCIe option card slot all of which are driven with PCIe electrical links from the segment’s SBC.

The BP6FS6605 is designed for cluster computing applications using low-profile single board computers.  Each segment SBC can operate independently or as a cluster via the SBCs optional edge connector C Ethernet interface routing communication to each segment using the on-board Ethernet fabric switch.

Note: Each SBC must support the optional edge connector C Ethernet interface routing.

Key features of the BP6FS6605 six segment PCI Express backplane include:

  • 20-slot form factor supports up to six low-profile PICMG 1.3 SBCs
  • Supports PCI Express card slots
  • One or two PCI Express plug-in I/O card slots per SBC segment
    • 1 – x8/x16 PCI Express 2.0/1.1 electrical* / x16 mech. connectors
    • 1- x4 PCI Express 2.0/1.1 electrical* / x8 mech. connector [segments 1, 2 and 3 only] *Link speed is SBC dependent
  • BP4FS6890 configuration is available in which two x8 slots are replaced by one x16 slot
  • Supports independent power source from standard ATX/EPS power supplies
  • Segment control and power allows four independent computers
  • Long life cycle with 7+ year backplane availability
