The BPG6600 PCI Express Backplane

The BPG6600 PCI Express backplane supports a single-processor single board computer, one IOB33 PCIe link expansion module, two PCI Express and ten PCI-X/PCI plug-in I/O cards.  The unique backplane design places the PICMG® 1.3 single board computer slot near the center of the backplane to enable more efficient air flow within a rackmount computer chassis.

The SBC’s PCI Express links drive the PCIe card slots directly.  An additional x4 PCIe link from the SBC enables a dual-channel PCIe-to-PCI-X bridge chip to interface the PCI-X slots into the system.  The 32-bit/33MHz PCI slots are driven directly from the SBC’s optional edge connector D PCI interface.  Twelve option card slots on this PCI Express backplane support PCIe, PCI-X and PCI plug-in I/O cards typically used in military and industrial automation platforms.

Key features of the BPG6600 PCI Express backplane include:

  • Supports one PICMG 1.3 combo or graphics-class single board computer
  • SBC slot located near the center of the backplane improves chassis air flow
  • Supports two PCI Express and fourteen PCI-X/PCI cards
    • 1 –  x16PCI Express electrical / x16 mech. connector
    • 1 –  x1/x4 PCI Express electrical# /  x8 mech. connector From IOB33 module on the SBC — link width is SBC dependent
    • 2 – 64-bit/100MHz PCI-X
    • 4 – 64-bit/66MHz PCI-X
    • 4 – 32-bit/33MHz PCI
  • One dual-channel PCIe-to-PCI-X bridge chip
  • Long-life backplane with 7+ years of availability enhances system design stability
The BPG6600 PCI Express backplane is designed, manufactured and supported in the USA, and backed by a 5-year warranty.
