NEW SHB Express™ Products
Bringing PCI Express to Embedded Computing

SHB Express or PICMG 1.3 is a new industry standard that defines scalable, high speed and large bandwidth PCI Express™ links between the system host board, (i.e. single board computer) and an SHB Express backplane.

Why SHB Express? Today's processors and I/O devices are placing an ever increasing demands on todays PCI/PCI-X parallel bus architecture. This situation will become more acute as processor speeds continue to inrease and I/O devices demand greater bandwidth. Industrial computing applications are demanding more performance from the hardware platforms, and SHB Express solves these bandwidth issues while enhancing the organization's return on investment (ROI) in PCI/PCI-X software and hardware.

The high speed PCI Express serial links between the system host board and the backplane in an SHB Express system eliminates data bottlenecks caused by parallel bus architectures. System design costs are reduced because of the simplified power management features of SHB Express. System Value and ROI are maximized because of SHB Express' ability to provide seamless support of the PCI addressing model. This means that SHB Express systems can function with the operating systems, application software, device drivers and option cards used in previous PCI/PCI-X system designs.

SHB Express systems are defining the next generation of embedded computing platforms. Reuse, cost savings and performance enhancements are all key attributes of SHB Express.

The following SHB Express products are now available to help you take advantage of PCI Express technology in your design systems:

Dual Processor SHB's
SLT
*NEW*
The SLT is a server-class PICMG® 1.3 SHB featuring two Dual-Core Intel® Xeon® processors. This system host board provides four processor execution cores operating at about half the wattage of previous generation CPUs. The board has a low-profile passive heat sink and uses the Intel E7520 chipset.
The NLT system host board (SHB) or single board computer (SBC) is a server-class SHB Express™ (PICMG® 1.3) computer board that provides PCI Express interconnects between the SHB and backplane. The board features dual Intel® Xeon™ processors and the Intel® E7520 chipset.
Single Processor SHB's
TML
*NEW*
The TML is a graphics-class SHB with similar features to the T4L system host board. The SHB supports high-end PCI Express or ADD2 video and graphic cards as well as PCI-X and PCI option cards. The TML pairs the Intel® 945G chipset and the Intel® ICH7R I/O controller with processor options that include the Intel® Core™ Duo, Intel Core™ Solo and the Intel® Celeron® M.
SLI
*NEW*
The SLI is a single processor version of the SLT and offers two processor execution cores per board via a single, long-life Dual-Core Intel® Xeon® Processor LV 2.0GHz.
T4L
*NEW*
The T4L is a graphics-class SHB with direct support for x16, x4 and x1 PCI Express™ links to a PICMG® 1.3 backplane. The SHB supports high-end PCI Express or ADD2 video and graphic cards as well as PCI-X and PCI option cards. The T4L features the Intel® 945G chipset with the Intel® ICH7R I/O controller. Processor options include the Intel® Pentium® 4, the Intel® Pentium® D and the Intel® Celeron® D.

Like the NLT, the NLI is a server-class system host board (SHB) or single board computer (SBC) that supports the SHB Express™ (PICMG® 1.3) specification. The NLT supports PCI Express interconnects between the SHB and backplane. The board features a single Intel® Xeon™ processor and the Intel E7520 chipset.
